Comes down to preference really. You can go as simple as a tree fern panel, or dabble into carved foam or clay.

All have their benefits and issues.

My personal favorite is carved Great Stuff. Being able to carve my background into vines, ledges, caves and planters fits right into my obsession for unique but natural vivariums.

Great Stuff is covered in silicone and coco/peat pressed into it.

If you do a search for 'backgrounds' you should run into some how to's and pictures. From there you should be able to decide what will fit into your 'mental scape' as well as your budget!
