A "Crabatat" - sounds like a partnership btw Fischer Price and Tetra to create a little plastic house for hermit crabs to be marketed in McDonald's happy meals... Ha... love it.

My list of species to acquire includes Geosesarma... Are they still Geosesarma sp. or did they get a separate classification? I thought I read somewhere they were changed...

I hade 2 tanks (one brackish) with Sesarma bidens in them. They were great, but very shy...

D3monic, are your crabs active?

Not really, I am kind of dissapointed with their activity levels. I set the tank up so my boys would have something cool to watch in their playroom but the crabs really don't do much. They do go in the water sometimes...usually to molt and stink it up.

Your crabatat looks very nice. You should have gotten your kids some Azureus instead. Smile

Nice Crabatat Michael - thats a bummer they are somewhat of a disappointment. Id have thought they would be active... remembering when i was a kid and kept hermit crabs.

It never gets old ;-)
Beautiful tank btw. Shame you haven't had much action. Have you considered Hermit Crabs? May sound like an old childhood cliche but they're are other species of LHC (land hermit crabs) that you don't see at the LPS that are extremely active. Most are also avid climbers providing hours of antics. They are however nocturnal and are very aloof in the daytime hours.

Those are super cool; however, they are not typically chosen by craps that have other options. The photos used are of crabs that were forced into them. Literally.
