So you're absolutely, unequivocally, 100% sure that there is no farming going on at this place?:
http://saurian.net/Costa-Rican-Frogs.html I'm not seeing the upside-down condiment cups that you see in those pictures of the Panama "farms". This guy already has a track record of farming other taxa, and his animals have been sent to institutions in addition to hobbyists over the years. Another thing that separates anything coming out of CR from what is coming out of Panama is that in two years only 5 or so locales have been released from CR farms in highly limited numbers versus 10s and 20s of locales and hundreds of individuals from Panama. Also, have you actually seen any of these imports in person? I have some, and they are in pretty good shape, better than the Panama WC I keep/have seen. Size and color can be explained easily by how they're raised. These animals are getting natural feeder diversity and strong doses of UV light. Plus, Patrick is a stand-up, long-time hobbyist. I trust what he says over most in this hobby, especially just some name on a board. Frogs are getting sent to Asia too...We like to blame Europe for a lot of things, and I'll agree that their wildlife policies are pretty lax. Smuggled animals cross borders there more easily, but I've never seen hard, concrete confirmation that hundreds and hundreds of CR pumilio are pouring through the borders. If you have proof and not something like "Hans Schletzenberger told me so", I'd love to see. No, unfortunately, I'm a student and can't afford to just jump on a plane to afford a trip to Central America (as much as I'd like to go), but I do have real, lab research experience with these animals and have two friends who are actively doing pumilio research and are "down there" on a yearly basis.
