Darts with parasites are analogous to mixed tanks, there are no known benefits to the frogs with either.

Awesome morphing pics Rich. SO VERY rare to see the obligate pics as most people tend to not be able to access the tads in broms. Another compelling reason for film cans !

Hi Stu,
I would say they are at about the same percentage of body size as most pums.
Black Jeans are as big as most grannies and have about the same morph-out sized froglets.
Popes are tiny and have tiny morph -out froglets.
As always, there are exceptions to the rule, but proportionally about the same as the parents.

Is the tiny shell in there for potentially adding calcium to the water?

Good theory, but the shell is there because a snail died in the water in the zip tied can next to the morph out can. I dumped the water, cleaned all the cans' water and the shell just happened to make it into the shot.
I do crush egg shells into my spring and iso cultures though.

Great documentation Rich - VERY valuable. How rare are morphing pics of Oophaga granulifera ? These are the first one's I've ever seen in almost 10 years in the hobby and it doesn't hurt that they are of such good quality either !

Hi Rich,
thanks for the reply,it is always so difficult to assimilate size from pictures. As Phil noted pictures of these frogs in the larval stage are so rare(these are the first I think I have ever seen), I was instantly curious as to their size proportional to the adults, and whether they bore similarities to equivalent sized punillio
much appreciated

These are crappy pics of a few crappy looking vivs. But , these are also the vivs that consistently over the years have done the best. I just can't get great pics of my vivs, for several reasons.
These are at the point in development where I will be adding lots more leaf litter very soon.
The viv with the most plants also has a bit more light than I like, but I consider it my plant grow -out viv as well as a granny breeder. It's a 160 gallon viv, so there are plenty of dark spots for the grannies to feel comfortable. The other two vivs are 90 gallon.
