They've got some neat looking splotches on their backs. Not sure if there is a technical name for "splotches".

Yep...they are "Variable" in pattern, that's for sure.

"Speckled" - black half moon marks or tic marks
"Reticulated" - kind of a "webbing" or swirls

and to boot....the "solids" will also throw a speckled ect every so often.

I like them all.

some addtional info on patterns:

Eldorado means "gold" and most all of these frogs have a deep orange colour, some being a little lighter - possibly considered yellow even. I don't think many people considered this morph to have any true red, but "reddish" colour representation / some froglets do look very red (above).

The two main patterns / "types" of eldorado are the (1) more or less solid - possibly some reticulation (webbing pattern on dorsal) and the (2) small black "speckled" half moon shaped marks on the dorsal.

Both patterns can be bred together (think Basti's) and both patterns seem to throw both pattern types as well, although I have seen the speckled pattern stay more consistant but the solids can and will absolutely throw some speckled patterns.

How do you know this Phil? When I think Bastis, I think Cemetary, Salt Creek, RFB...and I know there are differences in these and they should not to be bred together. Not knowing the differeces with the 'el dorado' geographical divisions means all guess work, especially when no site local data is given or studied yet.
Darts with parasites are analogous to mixed tanks, there are no known benefits to the frogs with either.

Now, if you mean that one pair can throw both spotted and solids and these specific frogs can be bred to each other, then yes, I agree two known different patterned siblings can be bred.
But, these are not known well enough to manage them in any proper way. The territory is huge and varried. Just like Cauchero, Esperanza, and Darklnads morphs.

One for the guys who think "2011 el dorado, 2010, 2009, ect." is good enough info for breeding purposes, what the heck makes anybody think ALL of the orange frogs (be the labeld BriBri or 'el dorado'...) came and come from the same area , each year. Absurd thinking.

Rich,

You know the answers to all your questions already. They are F1 from typical imports, managed the same way that 98% of the hobby manages imports and import progeny - by importer info, import year and lastly, by physical description.

If you want to start another thread on "Best Guesses", imports ect....feel free to do so.

All of my points and questions were relevant to the thread , as soon as you started adding your interpretation of how to breed them.
If you want a fluff thread, I will go away

Nice viv,
nice pums,
congrats...

Just to mention again as I did in another thread, the 2008 import of "Dorados" is actually from Las Tablas and should be kept separate from all the others. They are generally a bit bigger with more spots. Very nice frogs.

Hey Adam, I have heard you say that before, and I agree with you, but has someone actually confirmed Las Tablas origins?

I think we are relying on CvDL's awesome picture book for the 'Tablas' I.D...

Yeah, and I agree, the combination of phenotype and size makes it very likely. Their size of ~26-27mm makes them the biggest pumilio I know of....But can we just start calling them 'Las Tablas,' that seems like a very slippery slope. I suppose calling them 2008 sndf eldorado 'las tablas' seems better than spotted eldorado. Furthermore, I would like to see people only breeding the 2008's as oppose to mixing them with the gold eldoardo of different imports which are smaller ~24-25mm...just my two cents

It's not from pictures. It's from a reliable source. I'll let them chyme in if they want.

Las tablas is mainland panama no?

Sorry to take it off subject, but are these like "mainland" cristobal? Is there a mainland cristobal and where is it if so?

It's gotta be an inland population just due to it's large size alone.

They are from the mainland, and within the "El Dorado" range, although people should be aware that is a large range with many mini populations within, like with Las Tablas. They were collected on a friends ranch there. Marcus has told several people this who have asked apparently.
