Wild diet of a poison dart frog ?
#1
What is the diet of a poison dart frog? More specifically, I must know what a poison dart frog might be eating in Everglades, Florida. I already have it down for eating mosquitoes, well can it? Don't ask me what type of frog this is, because it is fictional, and all I know is that it is a poison dart frog.

fictional ? As in a writing project for school ?

Dart Frogs could not survive in the Everglades. The biotope would not support them for a multitude of reasons.

The tadpoles may eat mosquito larvae, but I doubt they could catch them with any regularity.

Adult dart frogs in the wild, eat mites, microfauna, small flies, beetles, tiny arthropods. Small bugs that crawl on the ground - not fly.

Phil and the OP, Glenn has a great link relating to tinc diet,i'm hoping he'll spot this and help out,if not i'll ask. We should also include ants specifically I suppose,I know you've covered that really Phil, but hell worth adding abit to your list Big Grin . It also appears from that paper that diet varies somewhat according to season

Ahh I wondered why we had no comeback, but Glenn's link is a cracker, someone will benefit from it. I think it was worth the malarky to get it here

Oh Phil I must apologise for all these bloody foreign guys coming on your esteemed forum and being nice to each other....must be hard to deal with mate, sorry about this. To me this is almost a paradox,we are all beyond serious with trying to do the best for our frogs,at the same time we take the p*ss remorselessly, naturally all blame goes to the Canuck...he's the oldest

I'll behave now promise

Thanks for tolerating us mate and all the help,i'm short of time ,but got some cracking pics for soon
best
