D. tinctorius behavior
#1
Do all morphs of D. Tinctorius behave the same? I have a pair of Azureus that are about 29 months old and they have been together since they formed their bond at age 12 months. These two frogs are incredibly tame and come right up to my hand when I feed them. The female is a bit bolder than the male and when I feed them I will hold the vile containing the flies inside the enclosure and the female will actually come up and rest one foot on my finger and the other on the edge of the vile while she eats flies. Neither one of them reacts to my hand being inside their enclosure and will completely ignore what I'm doing unless I have flies.

Do all Tincs behave this way? Although I have the all the species of darts I've wanted if I were to ever buy another dart it would a different morph of Tinctorious. It's nice to have at least one species of dart frog that doesn't disappear into the "jungle" the second I barely touch the door latch.

Dendrobates tinctorius is indeed one of the most bold of commonly kept dart frog species. Like humans, there are exceptions in the frog world- pairs that don't seem to like each other and won't breed ect ect.

In my experience, my dwarf tincs (Bakhuis and Lorenzo) are more skittish than my Azureus, True Sips and Robertus, which are usually always out. They are all still quite bold, but my larger tincs morphs are bolder.

I agree, my Azureus and my cobalts are VERY bold! I can open the viv, feed, spray, or move plants, and they are right there watching, not nervous at all. Aside from tincs, my Terribilis are the same, very bold. On the other hand, my auratus, imitators and leucs are somewhat skittish, and disappear when I get near the viv latch.
