Nikon Cool Pix S8200 16.1mp - Opinions?
#1
Any opinions on the Nikon Cool Pix S8200 16.1mp? I need a new camera, but I am hesitant to plunge big $$ on a powershot... not sure I want to mess w manual settings etc... but Macro shots and video are two elements I would like. DSLR is out of my price range.

Appreciate any input

Thx

I have heard these Coolpix are really well made and take great shots. Are they really small and thin and portable ? Is the LCD a touchscreen? If so...for @ $279.00....I'll buy one.

They dont have a touch screen, but they are slim and take good pics. I think the only big negative is they don't perform as well in low light. That might be a deal killer.

So I have $350 to budget for a camera - others I looked at were the Fuji HS20EXR and maybe the Canon SX30IS. Hoping someone has some actual exp vs me just reading online "reviews"...

Turns out one of my coworkers is a camera buff - he talked me into the Canon Powershot S95. The price is now showing $289 and might come down w thx giving sales. He said that was no brainer and not to get spooked over manual settings - he offered to get me started. This camera has f2 lens, better for indoors and smaller lens has less distortion on Macro when your in jpg mode than other "zoom" crazy lenses. Got to fiddle w his S90, which is more or less the same except S95 shoots 720 vid vs VGA.

Nice....look forward to the review and some pics. I just used my little Sony cybershot( 5.1 megapixels) for some ebay pics and it served me well since I bought it in 2004-5.

One thing that would be cool is for a wi-fi interface for pic sharing/downloading. I hate all the cords.

Awesome !

I can't wait for a full review - I may just go right out and get one !

Does it have "Wi-fi" download ?

Is it waterproof or water resistant ?

Nope

I will spend a few months with this new camera then share my opinion - I am not a camera buff so prob not fair to consider my my comments a review : )
