Having had several different species of darts, including Varadero, I'd recommend starting with a frog that isn't a thumb or obligate.
Leucomelas or a morph of Tinctorius is really a much better way to get a handle on the hobby. You'll see your frogs much more and they won't disappear as soon as they realize you're watching. They're also much less temperamental.
With that in consideration, where are you located? It's easier and much cheaper to pick up frogs from a local breeder than to have them overnighted to you.
Have you started culturing flies yet?

I'm in Norfolk Virginia ....no I haven't started culturing yet I'm not getting my frogs for at least 3 weeks to a month going on a vacation then might be headed to another state for training.

I'd get a good 3-4 runs of cultures through before you invest in frogs. Flies can be finicky if you don't have everything figured out.
It would be unfortunate to lose new frogs to a series of culture crashes.

Cultures generally last 2-3 weeks. That's 2-3 months before you pick up frogs.

How long will you be away for training? Frogs need misting/feeding every day or two, culturing flies is also about the timing.

Good, it takes at least a month (or two) for a new viv to cycle, and be healthy for the frogs. Please start culturing your flies now though, that takes quite a while to get it down pat!
Did you find a source to get your R. Veradero??

Good luck. Find someone local who you can lean on if you lose you cultures. They're generally $10 at Petco, if they're stocked.
