Hi, I am new to the hobby of keeping dart frogs. I have no experience with forgs or reptiles, however I have kept an aquarium for five years and have a dog so I understand pet care. I am hoping to start simple with a 30-40 gallon with some nice looking plants and some of the easier frogs to keep. I hope to learn alot from this forum. Thanks!
Hi Cer and Welcome !

A 30-40 gallon is excellent - the bigger the better.

We have a very good plant forum here with several members who are , what I consider experts in Vivarium plant selection and care.

I would recommend 4-5 auratus or leucomelas as your first Dart Frogs. They are fairly inexpensive, easy to obtain locally from breeders near you (unless you live in Alaska ) and are bold frogs that can do well in groups.

Please check out the Beginners Forum and feel free to post away ! We'll get back to your questions very quickly here.

Thank you very much. I was worried I had chosen a bad sized tank.
Not at all....bigger is ALWAYS better. Most people try to start this hobby with a 10 gallon tank - sometimes even smaller !

When you feel up to it, go ahead and start a thread in the Beginners Forum about your Tank and the questions you have have about it and we can zip thru them there for you.
I agree with Phil the bigger the better. A 30 - 40 gallon is a good size. My first darts were auratus. Wink
