I understand their "purpose" but is there a way to stop the commercials?
I like the cam idea, but if your not in full screen mode, the add for pasta covers up the frog Smile, atleast when i was watchin.
derek
It's a free streaming video hosting site, so yeah, we need to put up with the ads for now. Once you leave the broadcast channel open and the first ad and pop ups run their course, the rest of the viewing experience is pretty distraction free.

You just have to get thru the first couple distractons and then it gets smoother.

Full screen is def the way to go for better viewing !
Full screen is just tougher when your at work Smile...
derek
Right on.

Those S.I's were pretty active earlier. One sat on a mag leaf for a long time, though, like it was just staring.

I may have to engage the mic and allow the various neighbouring frog sounds to be part of the broadcast. We'll see.
Very cool! I'll check it again when the frogs are awake :p
Check it now....they are right in the front now !
Camera broadcast will end at some point every night, so the little guys can get some sleep without the light.
Cam is back on - with some condensation that will soon dissipate by way of clip fan, I hope.

I turned the Mic on, to try to gauge the volume level and if it will pick up other frog noises, nearby, like all the pumilio.

I wonder if I should do a different Viv every month, or take requests to place the Cam on certain species, ect ?

I have @ 30 Vivs that I can rotate it on.....

Some thoughts.
Switching Viv's would be cool Phil.
Ok, I have looked at this Viv several times now, are you sure there are frogs in it? LOL
HAHA You missed all the action yesterday. They were pretty active mid afternoon.

Glad you turned the mic on as well Smile

But I agree. Switching vivs would be cool. How about an already established viv with some bold frogs with bright colors?

Or a smaller viv so that we can have more chance to see some action.
I saw one on the right.
You are right Kris, we need frogs that are not brown,
Cmon Phil I know you have some colorful frogs.
How 'bout the P. Vittatus viv? There's like 7 of those guys and they are nuts in there all day long. It's like watching the Three Stooges bap each other around an' stuff.

Well....like...the 6 or 7 Stooges,in this case.
Sounds good Phil. Smile
I love frog cam! Big Grin
I think it is cool as well.
Phil I think you need to set a time/day and have us tune in while you frog cam your viv's.
Good Idea Beth,

Maybe a small "twitter like" block here on the DD page- like an alert when I see something going on or when I make a change in the Cam position or viv.

Cool ideas....

I'm going to try to stick to the 3:00pm EST Feeding (I was late today by 1.5 hours) for the epip viv. I drop the dusted FF in a small hole in the very front of the viv, where the cam is pointed, to ensure that the frogs go there to grab the flies.

What I do, is open the Cam page and suffer thru the one big commercial ad and the little pop-up or 2. Then after the cam page is open for a while, the ads are no more. I leave the Cam page on the "small view" and then go back and forth onto other pages of DD or even open up other pages on other websites and I periodocally toggle back onto the cam page. As soon as I see a little blur of activity, I rush to open the "full screen view" and enjoy the action.

When I switch over to the vittatus viv...there just may be too much action- heh.
Anyone hearing frog calls from the open mic?

Anyone hearing anything "odd" other than frog calls from the open mic ? Confusedhock:
Yup. Heard frogs all day long. Didn't really hear "odd" noises other than you rustling around somewhere. Saw some action of you moving the the cam around this evening Smile
Cool.

I have so many vivs, ideas, angles in mind to display the cam.....good thing we have so much time, in which to do it all !

There are 2.2 vanzolinii that are actively breeding and laying eggs right now, but that viv is huge and it may be harder to get them on the "stage" as they are a little bit sneaky with egg sites ect.

I think the vittatus vivs is going up here shortly. They have an array of cool sounds and squeaks - even the females, and they are absolute clowns.
