Full Version: what is this bug?

Tried to id this little guy awhile back but no luck. Anyone wanna take a stab at it again? These guys came in with some dwarf whites isopods last year. They don't bother anything and continue to breed. I'm just curious as to what it might be.
They are 1/8th of an inch long and remind me of a horseshoe crab with antennas and blackish green.

Looks like it could be a species of Lepisma - possibly Lepisma saccharina but the green and black is not a usual colour form - it's difficult to tell from the photo.

It is fast and kinda crunchy when you squash one! lol! I think the black and green may be the camera cause after putting one under a magnifying glass it looked more brown. That is definitely it! Thanks for the replies everyone!
The pics Azurel posted and the second link from Phil are spot on! looks like they are found under tree bark and eat fungus and sometimes other arthropods! Very interesting!
