Go ahead and hit me up with questions here in this thread about Costa Rica. I'd rather have my answers and content be part of a lasting thread to help others, if that's ok. If there is any "touchy" questions, I can always do those via PM.

I was there for a few weeks in the Fall of 2009 and loved every minute of it. I was central, northern and eastern. Missed the entire West Coast, but I can probably assist with some stuff there as well.

Here's a MUST stay in the northern / central area.

Fantastic lodge, amenities, hiking, guides, auratus and blue jean pumilio, tree frogs..

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. VERY family friendly too. American style motel pool. Actual nice hard top road from San Jose to travel here as well. Pleasant ride.

This place looks great, prices look good too. Its pretty close to a lot of places to see as well, thanks

Quick Breakdown:

West coast - Surfers, traditional beaches, honeymooners, resorts. South West - Granuliferous.

East Coast - Rustic Caribbean, Gateway to panama and pumilio, not as good beaches and beach amenities. Not recommended for families / little kids.

Central / north - San Jose, Volcano's ,cloud forests, easy travel.
