Hey guys I have a group of veradero that are all siblings I really dont want them to breed together I dont know if this is ok. Is anyone willing to trade some veradero ?
I know this is an old thread but I was researching the subject and stumbled on this question.

I'll be getting 4 frogs soon, most likely siblings.
They will, I assume, get freaky together.
What am I to do about that?

Thanks

Several generations of siblings breeding are 'not that bad'. Frogs are different from mammals.

By the time your frogs interbreed into the 4 or higher generation you WILL be out of the hobby.

Or quite possibly dead of old age.
Care to expand on that ?
What happens after the 4th generation ?
Aren't frogs mature at 1-2 years old ?
Couldn't the forth generation be reached after less than 12 years ?
How old do you think i am ?
most people leave this hobby in under two years. less actually
Let me tell you, as someone that is just starting in the hobby, this is a saddening statistics.

With your experience, what are the main reasons why people quit?

I call this (Dart Frog hobby) a 'luxury' hobby. Cats and Dogs, while more $$ are like children so no one DARES complain about them and their @ 12 year lifespan.

People go to college, divorce, move, change jobs ect ect and then totally get out of frogs.

Frogs are relatively cheap and as such, most are 'disposable'. Read this thread:
