Re: totally freaked out.

the weird thing is, his thumbs are slightly wider than the females but his body looks exactly like the females. i have seen other males and he has a very feminine look and also he's as big as the other 2. I am blown away. So i guess i need to go back to the book and read up on tadpole care and etc.....

bean beetles hatched

my bean beetle cultures have been sitting for a few weeks and i have been hoping for a bunch to hatch out. This morning i saw there are like 150 in one container that seemed to have none just yesterday! They are also moving a lot faster than normal and seem to be chasing each other around( males aft...

Re: my upgrade

amazingly well, Thanks. I have caught one certain female pushing the others around( literally) but then she stops and everyone seems fine. they are all eating and all of them are out and about. I'm pretty happy they are all getting along. my Tilandsias died, i guess my viv is too humid for them. But...

my upgraded vivarium

well i added a new chunk of wood, and it is dry in the pic, but i keep pouring dechlorinated water on it so it should stay damp soon.( i also wiped the front of the viv clean before i took the pic.) i got a baby Brom and some viney plants, i think they are called little hearts, or something. The fro...

Re: that was a dumb idea-crickets

yeah i will not do that again. this morning as i turned off their blue night light, and turned on their daytime LEDs, i saw one of the crickets. but as the light came on, he hid. they are still very small, and i'm hoping they either get caught, or die quickly. i guess i was thinking it would be fun ...

that was a dumb idea-crickets

i decided to see if my 3 azureus would like to try very small crickets. so i dusted 2 very small-but not pinhead sized, crix. immediately, the crix hid under the leaf litter. never to be seen again. and my frogs were MAD. they knew something was in there, but they could not stir them up. so i tossed...

hydei fly use past 4 weeks?

I have been having good luck with culturing my Hydei flies, and my Azureus 3 females love them, so i have been feeding more of the Hydei than the Melanogaster. it seems like my H seem to have a ton of flies at 4 weeks, and i have been told to discard ( freeze) any cultures at 30 days. they are livin...

leaves falling off plant in viv- leave them?

i have a pink colored polka dot plant-Hypoestes phyllostachya. it grows very fast and has dropped a few leaves. i took them out b/c i did not know if the plant will be ok to decay in the vivarium, or if i should always remove them. i feel like i should let it happen naturally, but part of me thinks ...

sitting in a monkeypod

i have a monkeypod in the viv, well actually 2, but the other one is smaller. this one has become a sitting spot for Darla, and Now Debbie, too. i usually put a few teaspoons worth of water in the pod in the morning when i spray down the viv. Do you think they like the moisture? it does not stay ful...

shedding Question

i have seen my tree frogs shed, and it looks strange, but i know what i'm seeing. today while feeding, one of the Azureus was acting like she was choking. i was wondering if she was shedding, but she did not kick her body in an act of removing skin, she just kept opening her mouth, and i was getting...
