Re: Poll - Your Vivarium Background preference

It all depends on what you want. My absolute favorite back ground is actually stone, tile or ceramic. Its the type of background that can look so good that it can be a center piece in a living room. It can be a work of art. But it takes time, tools and money to make that happen. So after that it all...

Re: Photoshopping and fake coloring of Dart Frogs ?

Another issue is sometimes people save pictures in a wide gamut palette and just throw them up. Most people have no idea this happens and you will get very different results depending on the application/OS configuration and its support. I suspect the reason we hear varied results about what people g...

I still dislike and do not understand why they don't have their price list and availability listed on the website.

Re: How much are my frogs an' stuff worth if I sell them?

You also forgot to mention that 50% of your price is not 50% of other peoples prices. I see it all the time on CL, FB etc... Person A goes into local pet shop pays $150 for a 18x18x24 exo terra, $40 for a hood, $35 from for each E27 LED light. So by your mark they might ask for $130 for it all at 50...

Re: Where to buy fabric coted lids?

I don't think people are going to run out. From what I understand there is a machine making these lids but only 1. The problem is the demand has outrun what the machine can produce. The some people solved the problem by sourcing the perforated lids. But the fabric lids are not being phased out, they...

What is the difference between a reseller and a flipper? We just call people we don't like flippers?

Re: Our hobby breeding standards need to be better

One issue that fights against better breeding practices is the hobby and good breeders are discouraged from flipping. Whoa you say flipping is BADDDDD, however the problem is if a seller is not supposed to flip frogs then it makes the most sense for the seller to set up a diverse range of small grou...

Re: Malware detected on DB

I doubt they would try to install anything like that most likely it is malware and is coming in through the ads which means they wont do shit about it because they will simply say its not our problem they might even give the default bad answer of try a different browser. One of my biggest pet peeves...

Re: Best Led plant light for dome fixture?

Yes PAR38 fixtures are fine in dome hoods. Also those domes are designed for standard A21 light bulbs of which there hundreds such LED fixtures. The cheapest are typically the ~800 lumen LEDs from the likes of CREE and Phillips at hardware stores. The PAR38 fixtures will be more efficient but will o...

Re: Forum vs facebook

A poll about forums on a forum shows forums win, surprising! Facebook is becoming more and more of a place to do stuff IMO people can interact with a lot more casual users on facebook than forums and this opens up a lot of big dart froggers to increased sales and they aren't going to ignore that. Yo...

Re: Selling unrelated frogs ?

I care about this and applaud your efforts, unfortunately not many other people do. I would easily pay extra for such a service by about 20% per frog. I have always found it ironic how this hobby puts so much pressure on lines and almost no pressure on the severe inbreeding we partake in. I judge my...

Re: Where to buy fabric coted lids?

I would imagine that this company will continue selling them for a long time. http://www.tsksupply.com/poly-fabric-vented-lids-only/ The one downside is there website is has real issues with getting what you want using the menus. I saw something they had at a show once and could not find it on their...

Re: 100% Organic Backgrounds - future of hobby ?

Yes but those posts have been there for years and it hasn't taken off. Most new builds you see are still great stuff. Which gets back to my first point there is some thing lacking in those methods that doesn't give people what they want. Just look at the build threads and tally up how many are clay...

Re: wanted-highland sirensis/standard lamasi

IMO its not sensible to charge far less than the going rate. Sure $400 might be gouging but if you sell them for less for all you know the person you sell them to is going to just flip them for an easy $150 / frog profit and beat the drop in price that will surely come when the F2s start hitting. Ma...

Front is not just for enjoyment but is practical as you can view under the water to see if tadpoles are deposited or it just needs to be flushed.

I have not seen UVB penetration to any significant level speced for low lead glass such as starphire. UVA has some penetration. Is there another maker with better transparency?
