Re: Carnivorous plant questions

Michael, I've been wanting to do a small table top bog garden, something like this: http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/forumapc/plant-physiology-emersed-culture/72691-emersed-aquatic-plants-carnivorous-plant-layout.html He goes into detail about how he did his. Some of his plants he does have to cy...

Re: D. auratus 'Nicaragua'

Glenn, I don't know what that fern is.
I received it in a plant trade and it was not labeled.
It seems to do very well in the vivarium, it sends off runners and I
have to cut it back frequently.

Re: Wax Worms- good feeder insects ?

Ben, thanks for clarifying the culturing on the greater wax worms. It's good to know they culture the same as the lesser and that there would be a small window of opportunity to harvest some that would be the appropriate size to feed to tincs (and possibly smaller frogs). Yes, forgot to mention abo...

Re: Shipping Tadpoles - Good practice ?

Most REPUTABLE breeders do not sell tadpoles. I have swapped tadpoles with other breeders, no issues with shipping, you basically ship them like you would fish. Something to keep in mind though is some people want to include live aquatic plants in with the tadpoles (like java moss, riccia, etc). Pl...

Re: Wax Worms- good feeder insects ?

Phil, the wax worms that have recently appeared on the market are the greater wax worms (Galleria mellonella) . I've never cultured these, but it appears their culturing is similar to the lesser wax worms. I would be interested to see what the timeline for harvesting an appropriate size to feed to ...

Re: Liverworts & Ferns milkshake method

As I recall there were mixed results. Some folks used beer, buttermilk, yogurt, to blend with moss. Some comments were being made about the smell. I don't think I have heard of anyone doing fern spores or liverworts though. Phil, I believe the dry product that was being used was a polyacrylamide co...
