It helps to dissolve water spots, which can mostly be prevented by misting with RO or distilled water.

Re: Has Anyone Tried Lowering Their Lighting?

I have a feeling with the obligates it takes a bit more time to notice a difference. It could have to do with deposit sites and a role they have with egg feeding . A change may not see results until after a clutch is carried , a tad transported or a froglet morphed. Speculation though. That's why I...

Re: Has Anyone Tried Lowering Their Lighting?

My auratus are coming out in the open a lot more, but still dive for cover when they see me. The tincs are as bold as ever, and the galacts are spending more time out in the open. No noticeable difference with pumilio yet.

Re: Drainage / Bulkhead - what do you use ?

I use a similar method with eggcrate false bottoms, just clip out a square large enough for a short pvc pip to fit through, cap the pipe, and hide it under leaf litter. When the bottom needs to be drained you can just pull the cap and run a siphon tube down.

Re: New setup! thoughts?

Exoterras seem to be the #1 hit right now....most hobbyists use them. Front opening enclosures are the way to go - so much easier to maintain. The vert kits are OK...but you can install them "poorly" (leakage) if you are a newbie. The Exoterras and Zoomeds are comparable in price - it's e...

Re: New setup! thoughts?

I'll cut the glass if you cover the shipping, I have lots of 1/8" scrap that just gets thrown away most of the time. Those tops would fit easily inside a medium flat rate box ($10.95).

Will do. Would you mind posting some shots of your low light vivs? I'm curious to see how they are set up.

Re: Has Anyone Tried Lowering Their Lighting?

I'll give it a shot. I don't expect much of a difference with my tincs since they are always out waiting for food, but we'll see if there is any difference in my pumilio, galacts, and auratus. I just removed a tube from each of my fixtures, so my vivs are now lit by a single T8 tube with the excepti...

Re: Glass lid help =/

Let me refraise my question lol.. what kind of mesh am i looking for? Menards did not have any of it. An ultra fine mesh or what exactly? thanks!! The kind you want is usually referred to as no see-um mesh. How much do you need? If it is just a small amount there is no sense in buying a whole roll,...

Depends on the forum. On frog-related forums I have started posting more or less immediately, while on other forums like Caudata.org or Field Herp Forum I have an account for the purpose of reading the occasional thread that catches my interest but I don't have any contributions to make it worth pos...

Re: Well this sucks - Tank drill Fail

man, that sucks! Fingers crossed I have drilled 10 tanks with one bit without breaking...I sure was a nervous wreck the first time. I know tempered CAN be drilled but its super hard not to shatter them. In our reef club we managed to drill a few 55 gals....one did shatter though. Perfecto 29 gal ta...
