Re: Poll - How long have you been in the Dart Frog Hobby ?

I've been keeping darts since '08, but kept a number of other frogs starting with a pair of red eyes back in '93.

Re: Anybody Growing Dieffenbachia or Heliconia in Big Vivs?

Have you used Dieffenbachia with frogs before? I have always avoided it because the sap is such a powerful skin irritant, but I'm wondering if the frogs that live among them naturally have a resistance. I've not, (one of the reasons for the post) but I know darts use them for depositing tads, and I...

Dieffenbachia will be hard to contain, I remember one my dad used to have that was well over 10 feet tall. Looking for more natural bromeliad alternatives?

Solacryl is the most popular brand, but it seems to be difficult to find. I know Brent Brock uses it on his blue jeans viv.

Outwater Plastics is a good site to bookmark as well, they are the only place I know of that sells black sliding door track for 1/8" glass.

Re: UVB and its pros/ cons

UV is measured in the range 280 - 380 nm in accordance with British Standards. Have you checked with a UVB meter to see how much UVB actually passes? The spectrum they measured includes UVB and UVA, and even within the UVB range (280 to 320 nm) it is only a portion (290-315nm) that is biologically ...

There were a few that were claimed to be either Citronella or Nikita (or both) depending on the vendor.

Re: When purchasing dart frogs how important is getting a fu

I chose "somewhat important". I prefer to avoid sibling pairs whenever possible and having a mix of sexes makes it easier to find trades when the time comes.

Re: Do you now have or have you ever had a mixed tank

Thanks Tony for saying that, with the negativity associated with mixing, it takes a sack to put it out there. Derek From what I've seen a properly planned mixed tank is usually received well, I pointed out a few examples on DB in a related discussion. One of the pairings I have considered are Phyll...

Re: Do you now have or have you ever had a mixed tank

I picked the "someday" option. I only keep single species vivs at the moment, but I've had some ideas for a big biotope display with a dart species and a small tree frog species floating around in the back of my mind for a while.

Re: Male red El Dorado 2011 imports wanted

What are the pics above ? What age ect ? I photographed @ 100 pumilio in south east C.R / Bri Bri area and they all have the weird ability to look orange at times, then reddish at times -in person and on film. They are adult females from the first round of 2011 Strictly imports. In person they are ...

Re: Male red El Dorado 2011 imports

Hilarious term and probably more accurate then we think. Get some pics up Tony so we can better assist. I'm hearing that some of the 2010 imports are closer to "red" that other years, ect. I think that's a little wishful thinking by some. I'll be on the lookout for you on this. These shot...

Re: Introducing Drosophila Hydei to a young frogs diet

If they are small and wingless, or have tiny wings and hop around you have melanogaster, hydei are larger, have large wings and red eyes. If you got them from Darren they are probably melanogaster, he usually has wingless and gliders (the hopping ones) available at the shows.
