Re: El Dorado Pums - Tadpoles Developing

yeah i heard that about el dorados. i'm excited to see it. as far as thumbnails, i've had success with imitator intermedius but thiss is the first tad development i'm seeing with the pumilios. it was nice to discover. i'm looking forward to seeing the adult transport and feeding process.

El Dorado Pums - Tadpoles Developing

so a little over a week ago my eldorado male was singing his tune all day. it was just non stop and i was pretty sure courting should be witnessed anytime soon. so i have 4 cans on each side of the tank for a total of eight at various height and distances front to back of their tank as well as broms...

Re: tricolour tadpole and egg problems

welcome ian, phil answered just about everything. there are some good fruit fly dry media recipes out there. as phil said it needs a lot more than just the potato flakes. i usually mix up a batch of dry culturing media large enough for about 40 cultures. that'll last me almost a month. i use potato ...

Re: Hamburg PA Reptile Shows ?

Well...the key is that Daytona's vendor area is nicely air conditioned. oh yeah i know that. august in florida can be brutal as far as comfort .getting to and from the show once you get out of your air conditioned car into a building with ac. in florida during the summeri used to be in constant ac....

Re: Hamburg PA Reptile Shows ?

yes daytona always had a pretty good rep. that was a pretty funny description of the hamburg show. i've been to the white plains show myself a few years back. i liked it when i went. you would think the daytona shows in august would be too much of a scorcher. having lived in florida previously i'm n...

Re: Hamburg PA Reptile Shows ?

phil, i see what you are saying. i noticed you were in PA. what shows do you look forward to in your area, if any. i noticed state to state that some have a few a year some have one per month. here we really only get the repticon shows coming through. any shows that stand out to you as high quality ...

Re: Hamburg PA Reptile Shows ?

thanks phil. honesty goes a long way. at least next time i visit i know not to take the side trip if it falls at the same time.
heck i haven't even checked the show in her own town. i think its called steel city reptiles. taking a guess that would also be just an average show?

Re: hamburg shows

....ehhh...from SC ? I would say pass. WAY too far to drive to ANY reptile show. phil, my sister lives in pittsburgh. i would throw in a visit to her for a day or two around the same time as the hamburgh show to make it worthwhile if it were a great show, but doesn't sound like it's the cat's meow....

Hamburg PA Reptile Shows ?

hey guys i had a few questions about the hamburg shows. i see reference to it quite often. having not gone to those shows myself i would like to check it out one day. is it a high quality show with a good portion of the vendors being experienced, responsible vendors. I'd like to hear more about the ...

Re: Tadpole care and feeding, geared toward beginners

communal rearing sounds interesting. have other people on the forum tried it successfully? just curious. i like the individual cup method because i can really monitor the individual but i'm curious about the results and the thoughts from people that have tried it.

Re: Tadpole care and feeding, geared toward beginners

I always considered a full water change to be a shock to the animals system. I don't think there's any precedent for it in nature - flood ? Hurricane ? again...no right or wrong with this. It's a personal husbandry issue and I don't think anyone has any conclusive evidence of either way being super...

Re: tadpole care and feeding geared toward beginners

Are you guys proponents of full / complete water changes ? I always only topped off water and never did a full change. Now, I do recommend suctioning detritus with a turkey baster from the bottom of the cup. I feel that takes care of most of the "bad water" problems right there. phil, i d...
