Bubble tadpole Imitator Egg and Tadpole development
#21
Are you sure the tadpoles are dead?
Tadpoles the have just hatched are not active at all,
it can take a day or two before they will actually start swimming/ moving.
How much water did you add to the container the tadpoles are in?

I saw heart beats last night, nothing this morning. They were in about an inch and a half or so of water.

Once they hatch, I usually add just enough water to their petri dish to cover the tadpole.
Once I see they are able to swim and move about (usually two or three days) I will transfer them to a container then increase the depth of the water over the next couple of days until it is approx 2.5 inches or so.

Sorry to hear that, what are you using for tad water?

I was using tadpole tea using the filtered water from my fridge. I boiled the water from the fridge, andit then sat in the spray bottle for a day.
It's the same water I use to mist my tanks, and the same stuff the tad in the viv is in.
The tad still in the viv is doing very well. I haven't seen any new eggs or tads though.

I decided to pull the tag the parents were raising. It's 21 days out of the egg now. I'm going to just keep it in the same water it was in while in the film canister. This way the kids can hopefully watch along with me the rest of the way.
Here's some pictures from this afternoon.

Thanks Phil. I'm hoping someone who's had experiance with tads can tell me! I was curious myself if that is normal or not....

I'd say that's an airbubble .Your excellent photos show that. It's not developing arms - too early.

I've had 4 different bubbles in leuc tads, one of which was huge- almost bigger than the tads body and they all morphed out fine. No problems.

It's very cool your tads bubble is so symetrical. I bet he'll be just fine.

I can say for sure they are see thru. It's good to know he/she should morph out fine though. I'll keep taking the daily pics and posting them until it morphs out- it's been really interesting documenting this.
