Pilea involucrata - pollen explosions!

Postby joneill809 » Mon Jan 12, 2015 8:58 pm

I've seen this a few times with Pilea involucrata now as I'm getting more and more of it - periodically it flowers and "explodes" with little poofs of pollen. It's surprising, and really cool to see. I've always liked this plant, but this makes me like it even more. Here are a few blurry clips of it happening:

That's really cool, must be happy in your viv.

Thanks Scott! It seems like they start to "pop" when they get hit with moving air - so they start up when I open the viv and stir things up. I really like Friendship Pilea - I've been using it in all my vivs - it holds up well with the tincs while looking nice...and its managed to survive under my care :) Lots of positives.
