Figured it has been a while so I'd throw some photos up here. First up are the fantastica. These guys are out more than I expected, and in the mornings they spend most of their time on the front glass which makes for some fun photos.

Some reference photos on NAIB True Sipaliwini - this is a great representation of the coloration I would expect. The yellow doesn't bleed down the back - the recent imports I have seen show more variable yellows than the NAIB animals. Anyhow this is a nice F1 female from Stewart - one of the original three I purchased that turned out to be a 1.2. There was some fighting going on between females, so I separated them and now I'm hoping to pair her up with a male holdback from my producing 1.1. NAIB True Sips are tough to come by these days and this old line needs more keepers...

Sirensis have been calling for a few months. I held off adding deposition sites until they were about a year old. Added broms and in a few hours they were checking things out:

The next phase of my project is moving along as I build out hold back vivs and seasonal rotation vivs. These are custom built vivs from salvage glass and $1 per gallon tanks that I cut up. These are the first two, while are are essentially short horizontal 10g footprint vivs.

Glass is cut.

Initial assembly.

Adding vents.

Close up of vent glass work.

Glass work complete.

Now the agonizing wait for more supplies. USPS lost my track shipment and my bulkheads were on back order and have been delayed twice. I'll stack these two up in a corner and start cutting the other four. I had two 20Ls and two 10gs laying around that I cut up. I screwed up some cuts so I ended up picking up another 20L and 10g that I cut up too. I'm getting better at disassembly lol.

In the end I will have six of these smaller vivs above my main display vivs. I have some strip LED lighting installed and misting lines plumbed...more to come. This is a slow burn project that will likely take another month or two.

Do you cut your own glass Jim? If so, how?

Thanks Beth!

Yeah Chris! I'll just stare at the vivs, cleaning up my sloppy silicone for now lol.

Hey Jim - yeah I cut my own glass now. I started with a Home Depot $5 cutter and 3/32 picture glass for my Exo Terra tops.

 Red Devil 106370 DIY Glass Cutter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004YNNP/

My edges were ok but not great but it didn't matter because they were buried in silicone. For this project I picked up a few more tools. I picked up a new cutter for long straight cuts:

 Logan Glass Cutter Elite 704-1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005N1KJXY/

And a straight edge with rubber feet that the cutter locks into:

 Logan Graphic Products, Inc. Adapt-a-Rule Cutting Guides 24 in. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001XRWZC0/

I also picked up some safety gloves :) - I don't need any trips to the ER for stitches.

 G & F 22600L CUTShield Slash Resistant Gloves Cut Resistant Level 5 EN388 CE Approved, Rubber Coated, grey, Large https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003DZ02RU/

Cutting wasn't too hard. Got some tips from Chris and made sure I used lots of oil. Measure three or four times then score. Don safety goggles and gloves and snap and done. I sand down my edges and dry fit everything. I still manage to screw up. I had a few bad cuts where my break jumped the score and shot across the sheet. Add to the scrap pile :)

I used 3/16 glass for the walls of the viv that were salvaged from the 20Ls. I plan on using 1/8 inch from the 10gs for my doors. I used 3/32 for my main vent pieces (and 3/16 scrap for spacers) since I had that extra glass and I wanted to keep them low profile. So far they seem pretty sturdy.

I cleaned my glass with razor blades and acetone to work loose remnant silicone and windex for getting rid of excess oil and dirt. It worked pretty well.

I'll try to document the cuts better when I start working on the next four. I would have the local glass shop cut pieces for me if I were working on a bigger viv. These small ones required too many cuts to make it reasonable to have the local shop do it.

**EDIT** I fixed the thicknesses in bold...Thanks Chris!

They are looking good.
3/8th inch glass for these tanks? Really? That is very thick. I have only used that for the bottoms of the largest glass tanks I have built.
I also have a sneaking suspicion that you might end up using 1/8th inch glass for the doors.

Man I cannot get my numbers right tonight lol! You are right Chris. I meant:

1/4 doors = 1/8 doors
3/8 glass was supposed to be 3/16, just *under* 1/4

duh.

Finished up the glasswork on four more:

My horrid ability to work with silicone makes me really appreciate guys like Chris that build these 4'x8' monsters lol.

Also got the strip LED lighting installed and the mist lines run. The shelves on the left will have two 15x11x11 vivs in each section. The one shelf on the right will have two 19x11x11. The vivs are a tight fit :)

These little vivs will be for hold backs, grow outs and rotating males out of the main vivs below. Hopefully I can get the track done tonight and the bulkheads tomorrow night. Cork work later this week.

And a Lorenzo belly shot - just coming out of water.

Yeah they are a really neat little frog. I just have to get used to never seeing the froglets lol. They disappear into the leaf litter of their grow out and I don't see them for weeks. I just feed the tank haha. They adults have some personality - they come out a good bit each morning. Fairly bold which surprised me.
