Odd Tinctorius identification needed

Postby morten müller » Sat Oct 17, 2015 8:37 am

Hello Dartden!

A good colleague of me looking for info about a mysterious white Dendrobates Tinctorius that nobody knows here in Denmark.

He has seen this frog and photographed in the nature for many years ago, but he has also seen it in the hobby in Germany around 1990. They came from some islands in a swamp area in the eastern part of fr.Guyana. Ralf Heselhaus from Germany should have been the first who reached out to this locality by helicopter.

I wonder if some might be able to help with a "Frog-ID" here?

Wow. Offhand it looks very much like a type of 'powder blue' or 'powder grey'. Nothing really striking or different.

My expertise is very poor in these species! but I think we should be closer to "Mont Matoury" it is more northerly.

My colleague are talking about an isolated Tinctorius group on some island, so it's probably not this variant which incidentally also called Cayenne, White, Grant Matoury, Petit Matoury.
