Shipping rule #1 - Pictures !
#1
If you are the shipper or the shippee....take numerous pictures of EVERYTHING.

Take digital pics and even video of the entire shipping procedure, animals, packing and finish off with the secured box.

If you are RECIEVING the shipment / box....take pics of everything BEFORE even opening the box. Take numerous pictures of all the packing material and the hot or cold packs.

There is a real eye-opener of a thread hitting the hobby airwaves right now, where the person did not take ANY pics until way after the fact - almost useless for documenting a bad packing job ect.

Take pics of everything.

Numerous pics.

I wouldnt call it useless until this person either admits to or deny's how the frog were shipped. Maybe he man's up. That said I always video my packing and unpacking of herps. I also log the exact time they show up as Ive had people who say guaranteed only if signed for by 12 and the freaking box no require a sig, how do you deal with that BS?

Who is the seller.....someone freakin post his name here please. This is not Dendroboard.

That thread over there is one of the silliest, inane things I've seen in a LONG time.

Thank you.

Brandon strikes me as a nice kid.....he has not been in the hobby too long though. I have been to 6 different shows and meets where he was there also and I've purchased some non animal hobby items from him too. No problems with him whatsoever.

I like him and I hope to hear his side of this and wouldn't be suprised if it's truly "buyers remorse" on the part of the purchaser. We will see...

In this hobby....you have GOT to speak up and defend yourself though.

I found it funny someone wanted it shut down before the seller could get a chance to speak up on it. I agree your rep is all you get in this hobby and if you screw it up or ignore the issues it never gets better for you. I posted the actual classifieds ad, don't know why it wasn't a link. I found it odd that for such a pricey pair of tincs there was little to no info included on them such as age and history with them.

They REMOVED the thread on that transaction over there on DB....of course.

I hope interested parties come over here. I believe there needs to be a bit more info forthcoming before we can put this incident to bed and move on......

OK. I didn't even realize it was him. I met him quite a few times. Hung out with him for a while at Frog Day

If I paid $650 for a pair of Lorenzos I'd def be feeling "buyers remorse"

Back on topic. Take numerous pictures of everything chronologically:

1. The outside of the unopened box
2. Opened box but still unpacked
3. Contents - focusing on heat or cold packs and their placement in the box
4. The deli or condiment cups
5. The animals.

I guess two main things....

Try to approach ALL boxes as though they have a FAILED shipment and dead animals inside. Too many people want to rip and tear into the box and it's impossible to go "backwards" and re-document everything after it's already opened and removed.

Take numerous pics....if you think you have enough with 5-6 pics....then still, take some more.

Are DOA's common in this hobby? It seems a lot of people are reluctant to ship frogs...?

When I was more into fish, I did the same thing on shipped/received products. I got a batch of $250 worth of dead shrimp and with proper photo documentation, I was able to get a reshipment at no cost.

5 minutes and 5 pictures is worth it every time folks!

(It also helps to time stamp your photos, most cameras can do this automatically)

DOA's...shipping mishaps ? Hard to say what "common" is but yes...they do happen and when you're on the receiving end, you'll wish you had a ton of pics just in case.

shipping season is right around the corner for most of us....so...be SURE to take pictures of everything - the frogs, the boxes, the gel pack / heat pack ,phase panels and even the boxes and the taping. Heck narrated video would be even better.

Even some cell pics will be better than nothing.
