Weird thing in tank!

Ok I will try to describe this thing that was on my glass. It was white and looked like a interconnected root system in the shape of a tear drop. When I first saw it I thought it was just was different fungi that had grown on the moist glass, however throughout the day it moved! It moved up the glass at least 10 inches, my guess is towards the light. It is now gone, has anyone ever seen anything like this in your tank?
was it connected to a root system stemming from the substrate in the vivarium?
No it was not connected it was seperate on the glass.
If you could get a picture, that would be great, if not, hmm, tough call

Yea I should have taken a pic, it is already gone. If I see another one I will get a pic, it was very odd.
I wonder do you have bamboo in your tank?

I have seen a parasite on a bamboo plant that could be what you are describing. It was white and powdery looking tear drop shaped and when examined very closely looked like a miniature horseshoe crab. Same scaled back plates and what not. they seemed to develop quite smal and the biggest ones I saw were about an eighth of an inch long.

I did a lot of internet searching but could never find out just what these creatures were. I never got rid of them no matter what I tried and the plant eventually died.

Anyways good luck and please share your findings with the rest of us.
I remember seeing a picture of exactly what you described on another forum. I tried looking for the post but I cannot find it.

I remember them saying it is just a rare plant that sometime grows on the tank glass. Not harmful or anything and actually quite interesting to watch. I believe they were saying it "unfurls" in a couple hours so if you watch it, you should be quite intrigued.

I think it was a plant anyways.. i can't remember. I will resume looking for the thread.
Could be a type of slime mold.
Seen them outside on wood chips, but much larger.
