I am posting a few pics of my reginas and my giant oranges. As Patrick says, there are some that are not that easy to tell apart within the same line. There are some that ARE easy to tell apart.

The regina standing was taken in a bit whiter light than the Giant, I would say the regina looks a little more yellow than in the pick. The Giant's colors are pretty true to life.

My suggestion when buying either of these frogs is to find a breeder you know and trust.

I do not want to get into a "right or wrong" thing, ( like Patrick writes, there are some that look very much alike) just wanted to post what my reginas and giant oranges look like.

I am sure I know which is which in my collection though.

I am very interested in this topic. I have been wondering about my Giant Oranges for some time. I just acquired 3 Reginas. One of these being an adult that looks exactly like yours. The other 2 are too young to tell. Anyhow I need to get some good pics so we can compare but I'm no good with the camera. As far as that chart goes my Giant Oranges look like the ones labeled Regina from the top at least( throat I'm not quite sure). My Regina look more like the ones labeled Giant Orange Esp the Adult I have.
Ill try and get my fathers D20 to use to get some good pics.

I would say that layout i.d. reversed, but again, there are some that look like each other.
The "classic" regina and the "classic "G.O. look, seem to be reversed. I can not tell size by those pics. My G.O.s are a bit younger than my reginas. I will have to wait to post full grown sizes for the oranges.

Yes it was Phil and I am very confused and now, even more so. So first, Rich , thanks for posting this thread. Where do giant orange and regina come from locale-wise, as that seems the obvious first question.

Here,(UK) these two seem to be lumped together, so any other information you guys can throw at me us would be massively appreciated, as to the distinguishing features, yes I have some stunning pics, but have no problems with anyone spelling things out for me as i might jump to the wrong conclusions,if i work it out for myself. Please educate me guys

I'm considering another project for 2013, and I keep coming back to Reginas / Giant Oranges as a not-so-common tinc to take on. I must admit I am hesitant to wade into this labeling mess and the perpetual confusion that seems to surround these "two" morphs, so I'm posing the question, does the confusion surrounding the labeling of these frogs detract from their presence in the hobby? Am I better off sticking with something like lorenzos and avoiding the confusion?

Here's a little info on GO/Regina.
I don't think it detracts from them. Tons of frogs with less info.
They are a bit tougher to breed well than many other tincs, and at times breed sexed heavy. But I always liked them.

No problem.
The good news is that in this one case, out of hundreds of possible 'combos' mixing a Regina with a GO may actually be the way to go.
