Home built, euro vivs, just love the design.
Stu
I voted "other" because I really like bowfronts (I guess I could have voted for standard aquariums, but to me they are different). The only downside is the lack of a front door though.
I voted other. I custom build and will never go back.
I choose Exos, but I have never owned a Euro Viv before so i don't know if I would like those better. Phil is right though on the easy access part. The Exos double doors on the front allow for easy access to the Viv.

Using a standard vert kit on a 40breeder is just scary IMO. I recently bought my first 40b and i plan on getting a sliding door kit.Kinda like the Euro style Viv's sliding doors. I have 2 kids and the last thing i need is to have one of them get cut from the glass on a standard vert kit.

Do you have a source for a sliding door kit for a 40 breeder? I've got one that I'd like to orient horizontal (so the top opening of the tank becomes the front) and I'd like to do sliding doors, but I don't want to mess around with sourcing all of the components myself...

Sent ya a pm.
Interesting observation. There are a lot of hobbyists trying to make a go of enclosure and glass box construction to include ventilation mods and I thinks that's just great, especially in this bad economy. The more the merrier, that way the hobby will grow quicker and develope innovations faster. The stellar construction efforts and businesses will always come out on top and flourish after all is said and done. Hard work and effort always wins out.
Don't use hex tanks or ultra tall tanks that only have a top opening, especially if you are new. It will become a bitch trying to reach into the tank for maintanence or to clean the glass for viewing.

Use a 'front opening' enclosure. Trust me. You will hate a hex...
Hey Phil, I started using a tank made by Tetra I believe it's called TetraFauna deluxe and has sliding glass doors that can be locked from tiny hands like my grandson. Also it comes with two holes drilled in the tank one center on the top back and the other hole on the floor of the tank. They also provide bulkheads or plugs for the holes. The tanks have been around about two years.
cool. You like the tank? All features work well?
Yes, I think it's a better enclosure then the Exo. I also appreciate the bulkheads which I use for an entry points for the humidifier and the bottom one acts as a drain to a sump which I use as a return for my waterfall. I make waterfalls in all my tanks because I enjoy them.
