A T5HO tube uses a bit more power than a T12, but also puts out double the amount of light.
Quick examples:
T5HO, 46" uses 54 watts and puts out 4,750 lumens

To equal the light output of a single 54 watt T5HO you would need 80 watts of T12 lighting.
