So far I am really impressed with the product.
I don't think there is viability in gut loading the flies due to the 6hr purge time, from what I have understood from Ed. In that the flies purge every 6 hrs so you really can gut load them like other feeders in other hobbies. But I could have misunderstood it too....
I will keep my feedback on other board where I started the feedback for this product.....
I didnt think so either, but didnt understand why they would be in there if they had no value?
In the mean time Ill keep dustin...

I think when you see that the larvae and pupae are orange due to their high levels of carotenoids, you might think differently. There is a difference between gutloading something and making it's tissue full of goodness. There are also lots of things in there because they make the flies grow and produce better. Vitamins and other nutrients are good for flies too

have been impressed with your other products IBC, Supperpig, and MRP. I will say, All supplements should be used in a mix, and your is in the rotation. I do add Superpig to all.

Better nutrition=healthier flies=better frogs. Flies may not be gut "loadable", but better fly nutrition can only help for healthier frogs.

The product has been out for a little bit now, and there are a lot of people playing with the water to media ratio, Ive been over there reading up on it. Hot water vs cold etc... and the amounts of each needed. Id recommend if you (other posters) havent done so yet, going over "there" and check out the posts on the mixing ratios to save yourself a little bit of playing around. Sounds like you have an excellent product Allen and I wish you the best of luck with it. Looking forward to getting mine.

I looked at my cultures today. Far more production than the other media I use. Now will the flies be better? Who knows, but I figured I would try it.
I will gladly accept increased nutritional value over production.....jus' sayin'.....

People love little extra / fun things like that and it has the added feature of product branding / advertising - a one-two punch.

active yeast is bakers yeast. Brewers yeast is an inactive yeast used for it's nutritional values (B vitamins and trace minerals). Active yeast (bakers yeast) is usually added to fly cultures to start breaking down the media for the larvae to feed on.

In the first batch I started I did one per Allen's instruction without active yeast and one per Allen's instruction with a sprinkle of active yeast. Both cultures started producing larvae at the same time.
I just started 2 more cultures using just half Allen's recommended recipe, 1/8 cup media to 1/3 cup near boiling water. I didn't add active yeast to either culture. We'll see how that goes in a few days.
Allen - question for you. I know a lot of us save the left over dusting powders from dusting the FFs and then add that into the media when we make new cultures. I guess I'm thinking with your media that's not really necessary any more but is there any problem in continuing to do it? I guess I just hate to waste the dusting powder by tossing it out after using it to dust the FFs.
I made cultures this weekend with your media and my home made media to test fly production etc.
It really expands well but needs more water then on the instructions.
I wasnt 100% sure on adding the yeast to the culture as it stated on Allens site that no yeast needed to be added, when you click on the "more" button it lists out all the info. on the product. I didnt know if it meant brewers yeast or the bakers yeast. Just wanted a little clarification.

Made my first batch of "Rapashy 'Superfly' Fruit Fly Media".
Comparing this against Josh's Frogs and a home made formula.
I was impressed that it only took a 1/4 cup of the mix where Josh's and the home made takes 1/2 cup for the same amount of water.
I'll have results posted as soon as they come in.
hmmm...after all the sale prices and 2 for 1 went away.....is there still buzz for this product ? I hope so.
I really like and would recommend it for sure......I am on to the 5th-6th set of cultures with it.
I am on about my third or fourth with it. Cultures seem to produce as long as the other media I was using. Are the flies truly better on Repashy, still do not know.
Anyone still using it over all others ? Anyone swear that it's... the bomb ?
any more reviews on this media ? I see that most all 'buzz' surrounding this product has hushed way down. That's normal btw.
