Ok, good stuff, hmmm I have lexan lids on my vivs - how does this factor into the UVA waves? I remember reading some posts by UK breeders w Histronicus using special glass, but I don't have the resources to go to that much trouble. Do you have any of the equip to do spectral analysis on what passes thru the various glass and plex products i.e. Lexan?

-thx
Scott

I have to thank Frances Baines for this-- give credit where credit is due!

One of the common new hobbyists misunderstandings is lighting and its oh so understandable. People generally think jungle / sunlight / intense / plant growth / exotic / tropical...ect ect.....and try for high output type lighting and it's just too much and too powerful. Most Saltwater or even freshwater aquarium lighting and fixtures are overkill and too $$ as well.

That's another positive to this hobby....we just don't need super high lighting.

Homedepot...Lowes....they are our lighting fixture friends....as well as Todd ^^ of course. Buy bulbs from Todd.
Interesting, neat to see how the materials & wavelength affect the transmission! Still studying on the lighting topic, lol.
