I have not yet seen this movie, but plan to. I thought though for those of you who have read the book, that I would recommend another one on a similar note. I'd forgotten it until I went for my walk just now, but as I was looking at my "running mate" app, I was reminded of the book "The Long Walk". Written by Stephen King, before he became big, I want to say this was when he was writing under the name "Bachman". Similar premise, takes place in the future where America is run by the military and the big game is "the walk". Every year 100 teen age boys go on a walk, they need to maintain 4 mph (I tried this tonite and its a pretty good clip). If they drop below 4 mph, well, last man standing kind of thing. Check it out, thought I'd share, its a pretty quick read, very short for King.
