I have a pair of P. terribilis who lay on a regular basis. My problem is generally, only about half or so of the eggs will hatch. They will develop into tads inside but not hatch out. There is the occasional egg that never does anything but that is not my main concern. Any ideas about what I can do to help? I have thought about breaking them from the egg a day or two after the others have began to hatch out.
What is your supplement regimen?

Type of water used to mist / hydrate ?
Nutrients / supps used ? Rotation ?

Supplements for the frogs are RepCal Herptivite 1x weekly, Repashy Vit. A+ 1x monthly and Repashy Ca+ every feeding
Water used to hydrate the eggs is RODI with Kent BWE
Temps on the eggs range from 72-76
There is a reason they produce a gazillion tiny eggs from such a huge dart. It is far from uncommon for high egg mortality.
Try keeping the eggs slightly wet. I'm not talking about misted or high humidity, keep a water level that touches the eggs , but does not totally cover them. Use tad tea or meth blue. Cull bad ones as soon as they start to look bad.

Would you recommend a leaf extract (oak) over the Kent Blackwater Extract (which I believe is peat based)? Or even another off the shelf product such as Attison's Betta Spa which has an almond leaf extract in it?
Leaf like almond or oak or peat brick, whatever. Kent is fine too. Not that important where the tannins come from.
Using peat brick and leaf litter helps the in-viv water too.

They laid another clutch today so I will change the method of hydrating them and keep them with a bit more water in dish.
add / change up your rotation of supps. New calc and vits. Add Nekton Rep and Dendrocare - both excellent German Vitamins.
Do not relay on just Rapashy products.
Rotation of 3-5 vits and 2 or more Calcs is key to good breeding IMO.
Good info Phil! I do from time to time throw in RepCal Calcium. (both forms w/ & wo/ D3) But not often as I should I suppose. I will get Nekton and Dendrocare to add to the mix.
Those Germans really do some great things. They seem to always be ahead of the curve with some things.
