So I received two UE "Varaderos" and they could be a possible pair (Male is calling and he sleeps with the other one I'm told). I guess my question is about inbreeding, they're related and from what I'm told, they are an F3 generation. I just wanted thoughts and opinions because I've read that inbreeding is fine and there aren't really any health problems like we see in humans and mammals. Then I've read it's okay until about the 5th generation and then some people are completely against it. Is it a bad idea to let these two breed if they turn out to be a pair and should I trade one for the same line but a new frog to mix up the gene pool or should this even be a concern?

Also can someone explain what OB is or send some more links/threads about IB and OB I think it would be interesting to read.
Thanks
I believe you are correct. Amphibian 'inbreeding' is not at all like what occurs in say, mammals. There are isolated 'pockets' of Dendrobates tinctorius in the sipalawini savanna regions that are 100% isolated and have been breeding thusly for decades if not centuries.
Okay thanks I was just a little worried because there are so many opinions out there
Much of this hobby and related husbandry issues are all 'best practice' and we rely on other members opinions and information. That said, you can always find someone who will disagree with you about virtually any issue or topic.

I would be ok with breeding them, for example.
Yea true I just wanted some input was all so ty, I understand everyone had different thoughts on this subject
