After months of research and viv construction, i finally received my first dart. it is a santa isabel tricolor, and i believe it to be a male. He seems happy and is eating well, but still no call. should i worry or is this normal? im sure he just needs to be acclimated to his surroundings. Any tips?
Correct, Sometimes it takes weeks or even months for full-blown acclimation. Some frogs will not call unless they are in the presence of another frog.
thank you very much. hopefully a few weeks will be sufficient. How much misting is too much, btw? I plan on trying to get my hands on a female so i can begin breeding as well, but do not know where to look.
place a location in your profile and post another thread with some pics of your set-up. Pics allow us to assist so much easier and faster.
I will post some pics in a couple of hours when im make it home. i have the daytime temp steady around 74, and humidity at 90 even.

Tricolor run male heavy, so be patient. You might try Sean Stewart - he is in your neck of the woods and has several species of Tricolor incl St Isabel.
George Gazonas in Jenkintown PA has 6-7 species of Epips....def Tricolor and S.I
Si tend to be male heavy. I have the zarayunga morph also
Thank you very much. I originally wanted an auratus or an azureus, but after seeing one of these up close i decided that i wanted to give them a go. They really are more beautiful than most make them out to be. Im just excited to hear him start to call, and hopefully can find a female by spring.
