I don't know much about crabs (no jokes please) other than one day...some day...I swear I'll use the word 'Crabitat" and have some vivs with them.
I posted these pics for a newly joined hobbyist who is into hermits.

I see that Phil! Thanks for sharing. You have my word I will post a thread soon. Keep your eyes pealed.
Also, I myself have shown some pretty serious interest in Halloween Crabs. Hoping to find some at the Repticon show next month.

They are beautiful Phil! he's a few of mine 8)
This is 'Merlin'. He's my absolute fav! He's always into something and is the least bit shy
Here is is again. He's an Ecuadorian hermit crab (Coenobita compressus)
This is your typical Purple Pincher (Coenobita clypeatus) These are the ones you typically see at pet strores
This is 'Scarlett' she is a rare Strawberry Hermit Crab (Coenobita perlatus) You can't tell, but she's the size of a baseball hock:
Rhett
Indonesian Hermit crabs (Coenobita brevimanus) Come from the Indo pacific coast and are the most terrestrial species of LHC
PINK Indo, rare color variation. Not many can say they have one 8)
My tiniest crab (although not so tiney anymore)
Another of my Coenobita Clypeatus
LAST BUT NOT LEAST! one of my reef crabs She's beautiful.. and yes... I took this picture!

Very nice ! I have been reading up on hermits (Crab Den).
Where did you get that Red one ? Is it pacific / asian and how commonly imported are they ?
Are they all in the one enclosure ?

Check out 'Hermitcrabassociation.com'. Although not as awesome as Dartden.com, LOTs of info (screen name Parrohead) 8) . The red crab is part of my reef tank, and is separate from my Crabitat. It's a 'Scarlett hermit Crab' and is a marine species (Paguristes cadenati).
All of my LHC (Land Hermit Crabs) I included in the thread are all in my 75 gallon. I also have a 10 gallon ISO and a 29g Biocube reef.

They are typically a dark purple color but that is a color variant referred to as a 'Pink Indo' ('Indo' short for Indonesian) and are VERY rare. To my knowledge I am one of the few hobbyist that have one Just above that picture is a typical Indo color, more purple and much darker. Those crabs are about 3" in diameter. I have 7!
