here is what my viv has looked like since i got my top. i wonder if it is too humid? or if i should keep the led lighting toward the front of the tank so i might be able to see what's going on in there? i got a kit from Junglebox with a screen area, so it is not 100% glass above.

Looks like it could be too hot. I'm not a fan of those dome light fixtures.

Get a laser temp 'gun' for only 30.00 or so. Has other uses around the house too.

Dontcha love how this hobby sucks ya in....makes ya buy more 'stuff'. Heh
i can probably find a way to raise them up higher. idk. Sigh. I have horses and i think they are less expensive to keep than darts. --> J/K but not by much.
Led lighting is the way to go. The only problem is that they are not easy to drive to the store and pick up. Gotta order them.

it IS LED. 2 Jungle Dawn 9 watt bulbs.
Hmmm. Temp gun time then. I used to get condensation like that from high overhead heat and glass top. Pictures only go so far though. Just giving you some possibilities...
Those LED bulbs do throw off a lot of heat. Not on the lit side, but on the back side of the bulb.
You may need to have a fan blowing on the bulbs or perhaps a fan above them drawing the heat away from the tank.
I purchased some similar bulbs (14W from a Dendroboard member) and I plan on building a canopy to house them on top of my 18x18 Exo-Terra. I modified the top of the Exo-Terra to be all glass except a 1.5" screen at the front. The canopy will basically be a box with (2) LED bulbs and (1) dim incandescent bulb for dawn simulation. It will have at least one fan built into the top of it drawing air up thru the front of the vivarium and drawing all that heat up and away. This should also have the added benefit of keeping the front glass dry.
Just some thoughts
thanks for the ideas. i will check into doing something..
