Is this occurring ? I think so. I see some WAY too blue colours popping up on certain Facebook pics.

I have always thought that these would simplify conversations of color.

If an animal is photographed next to a known color, than it is easier to visualize the actual animal. You can actually "correct" a photo by using photoshop to find the "true" color if you use this tye of card.
Different source light (cool/warm) complicates this process and can distort the subtle color. Frog skin color can change with the angle you look at it, so the same frog can look different just by hopping.
Point is, if you are buying a frog based on one photo and the color is important to you, ask for more photos. Placing something as simple as a a box of crayola 8 in the frame can do wonders.
Ok Mr "It's a shame we can't name names over on dendroboard", just grow a pair and say it. You've never been shy about criticizing this person in the past. Wink
Touche' Douglas. Foisted up by mine own petard eh?

also wanted to confirm others thought the same way before giving my thoughts...

Ok Mr. big ballz...what's YOUR take on the aforementioned conduct and example?
I use my cell phone for pics so keep that in mind. I was just wondering what I could do with a picture after reading this thread. So this is my best photoshoping effort. Enjoy lol

I don't know if Shawn is or isn't photo shopping. However, other froggers that don't participate on this board and have purchased from him and have made the same accusation.

The basti I bought from him didn't appear to be PS in anyway.

Just my comments.

Altering images after the fact is a pain in the ass.
HDR mode will enhance colors automatically. Some cell phones take obnoxiously awesome photos that way.
Has anyone asked what he uses for a camera? Hardware and settings?
Altering images has never been easier IMO. All smartphones have tons of filters and adjustments that are made exactly after, or even as the pic is being taken.

This is true. It can be done without the person taking the pic even knowing it sometimes.
Another issue is sometimes people save pictures in a wide gamut palette and just throw them up. Most people have no idea this happens and you will get very different results depending on the application/OS configuration and its support. I suspect the reason we hear varied results about what people get is due to that and due to just how variable displays are. The vast majority of the public has no idea that the display they use on a phone or a computer significantly changes the color of pictures. And sometimes I am sure people will purposely doctor photos trying to make them look accurate on their own display not realizing their display isn't the same as anyone else's. And no, most people are not going to figure out how their calibrate their displays. And displays on most phones cant even be calibrated.

This goes 2 ways, some people might receive a clearly phot shopped frog and just think its no big deal because almost everything they buy arrives different than what they see. The panel that Sherman linked is nice but lets be real not many people are going to pay $15 to photograph frogs and it won't do anything unless the buyer also has the panel. That is why on dendroboard I suggested the community develop a standard set of paint swatches that could easily be picked up at any home depot. It would be free to obtain and accessible to almost anyone, even someone just buying a single set of frogs.
