Hello everybody, if you don't know me I helped Phil get the site back up and running and I love my frogs and plants and vivariums way more than my family likes to admit. I on the other hand love talking about my frogs and most people think I'm a freak, anybody relate?

I just launched a website, frogsdirect.com, focused on the community, giving you all a place to sell your frogs, plants, supplies, art, apparel, anything you can think of frog related. You may also sell harmless reptiles but that's not going to be my focus (if you have them and you want a place to sell to the public, go ahead). I have my own frogs and I have my own plants and I'll get more and try to be more of a direct supplier but if I'm going to do all that work I figured hey why not give it to everybody else too. There's a few big benefits that I see here.

People can buy from more than one line or breeding stock to make their own breedable groups.

Every time you shop a single frog website the stock is typically limited and everything you're looking at is gone. If we bring everybody together in one place including those stores that already have websites, because you can easily integrate with our website, we can offer the public the largest selection of healthy captive bred frogs and supplies and the best selection of plants on the internet because we are all plant freaks deep beneath the surface. I've been working day and night to build relationships and wholesale accounts as well tweaking and tuning the website so that it's super easy for everyone to use.

I expect there to be some hang ups early on but you get your money instantly through PayPal and I help you calculate the shipping, and if you want you can print a shipping label or use your own, like SYR, you can even put in your own API codes and use your own accounts for shipping. Everything is secure I have anti-spam and vendor verification enabled. Vendor reviews and product reviews, everything under the sun that I could think of, with plenty more features to come in the next few weeks. This post is barely scratching the surface of the capabilities and possibilities of how great we can make this as a community, together. I hope you all join me and post what you have and send me any questions or suggestions.
Not too shabby.
The postings will come. I am just glad we have all the threads and information here, being used. That's more important than anything, especially a silly thread on 'mixing', amiright?

I get a lot....a.....lot, since I took over here.

I'm ok with any and all PM's that come my way - NEVER a problem, so don't ever be afraid to send.

But...

I tend to "answer" most all PM's by starting a new thread about the issue / question or bumping an existing thread. I really believe that all information should be laid out there for everyone to benefit from. If I'm going to take 10 mins and 2 paragraphs to respond (and that's fine), I'd like for it to be out there for others benefit as well. Not trying to be dismissive or a snob, but please try to tack your questions onto an existing thread or start a new thread with all your questions.

The reason is that many other people can benefit from reading the thread and the posts that would they would not otherwise never see in a private message / PM.

So if you are seeing bumped Threads/ topics or some of the older stuff, please bear with me. Please unsubscribe or just "click thru" these threads if they bother you.

Obviously, there are PM's of a private nature and those being the exception.....but I'm hoping you're smelling' what I'm selling' here.

Hi Stu ;)

An easy way to correct your "yellows" (according to what I understand from your post/request) would be to fine tune your "white balance". You should have on your 550D a way to manualy set the "K" (K for for Kelvin ... not Krakanax!!!).

You need to do a bunch of test with different values (for the K) and see what it looks like.
Give it a value of 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and see what comes up... In the end you will fing the right value.
It could be 3100K, 3200K, 4200K ...! Your pick.

When you get the right value, that you don't have the yollowish tone anymore, you can keep it in memory for your terrarium pics ... if they all have the same lighting / kelvin set up.

You probably have an "AWB" setting (Automatic White Balance"), a "Tungstene" setting, a "fluorescent" setting, a "day light" setting ... and a "K" setting that allows you to pick your own température color. That's the one which will work best in this kinda situation.
All of those settings are in the "Menu" under "Custom White Balance".

The spread of infectious disease is a serious concern whenever multiple groups of animals are housed in the same facility. All animals should be isolated for a period of time before being introduced to their tank mates, or in some cases, even the area of the facility where other animals live. New acquisitions may harbor disease and should be isolated from other animals in your collection. New or sick animals should be held in quarantine for at least a period of 45 days, but up to 3 months would be ideal.

A quarantine setup should not be in a bare, sterile box. This can cause physical and emotional stress on the animals and if they did harbor pathogen(s), allow them to overtake their immune capacity. Quarantine tanks should provide cover, warmth, hiding/sleeping spots, water and access to food. They should also be away from household activity that could cause undue stress to the animals as they get acclimated to captivity. If possible, quarantine tanks should be kept in a different room or building from other amphibians and quarantine enclosures should always be serviced last when making daily rounds".
