Can anyone show record of successful captive propagation of large Oophaga from the 90s? (Which I do not argue could have happened) I would imagine that this would be something people would be proud of and maybe want to share. Photography and the hobby seem to have always gone hand and hand.

A series of photos?, with increasing mega pixel resolution, with perhaps a mullet or something.

I am only asking a question here. It is based on the fact that I have heard claims of "from the 90s" attached to frogs that were not seen then. Please don't get all pissed off either, I am just trying to tease out information that may increase the contrast in a grey area.

The new Finnex 24/7 automated dawn/dusk lights might be a good option for anyone who wants to experiment with lower light levels through some of the day. The most intense part of the photoperiod is only about 6 hours long, the rest of the time the light is slowly ramping through dawn/dusk or in moonlight mode. The light is geared for aquariums where longer/brighter photoperiods can lead to algae blooms if the plants don't have all they need to out compete the algae (like C02 injection). Not so much of a problem in vivs, but might be less stressful for frogs then what many of us do to light a viv.

The light's size/wattage ratio in most sizes just about equals 1 watt per gallon (or in the ballpark at least) in most standard sized aquariums 20-55gal, and the PAR should be enough for most low to mid light demanding plants in those tanks with 1 light, and probably some high light plants if planted higher up.

Here is a graph showing the Finnex 24/7's progression made by one of the users on plantedtank.net...

And here is a thread about that light and some others...

What I'm talking about are real Blue Jeans. Is there a physical difference with these frogs throughout their entire range from Nicaragua-Costa Rica-Panama? What I am after is the coloration of a bright red body with blue legs. I've seen some Blue Jeans that are a burnt orange coloring with dull blue legs and they weren't Almirante.

I know these are an expensive form of Pumilo and are somewhat hard to come by, but I've pretty much narrowed it down to these or maybe Cayo Nancy/Solarte or Bri Bri or this other form, (?) Viejo.

I'm not ashamed to admit it - I want a bright red Pumilio.

I want to ask a few really simple questions about Pumilio so please bear with me. I have never seen one of any type in person so I have nothing to go by.

1. Are some Pumilio the size of thumbnails? I know there is a range in sizes but I'm not really sure if they are normally considered a smaller frog or a larger one. I have Imitators and Vents so I have something to compare them to.

2. Man Creek, Salt Creek, Vulture Point...I've seen pictures of all three and they look similar. Am I wrong?

3. Do any of the morphs/locales get the size of a D. leucomela.

O. Pumilio "San Cristobal", please give a different type of frog that's close to the same size.

Thanks for any help!

I lost my male Pumilio from my pair a while back and decided to hold back 4 froglets in hopes of getting another male to pair with my proven female. About a week ago I caught a male calling in the growout tank so I pulled him and put in the tank with the female. He's been calling nonstop ever since. Today I noticed another froglet calling in the growout tank. Should I pull him and put him in the female tank as well to see who pairs with her or leave the pair alone and see if they breed?
