Do all morphs of D. Tinctorius behave the same? I have a pair of Azureus that are about 29 months old and they have been together since they formed their bond at age 12 months. These two frogs are incredibly tame and come right up to my hand when I feed them. The female is a bit bolder than the male and when I feed them I will hold the vile containing the flies inside the enclosure and the female will actually come up and rest one foot on my finger and the other on the edge of the vile while she eats flies. Neither one of them reacts to my hand being inside their enclosure and will completely ignore what I'm doing unless I have flies.

Do all Tincs behave this way? Although I have the all the species of darts I've wanted if I were to ever buy another dart it would a different morph of Tinctorious. It's nice to have at least one species of dart frog that doesn't disappear into the "jungle" the second I barely touch the door latch.

I made the plunge and picked up a pair of WC Robertus from SNDF. I've placed the details of my intake and QT log on my website. I was amazed at the variability of the morph, ranging from a Koetari River look-a-like, through high yellow specimens (what I have). I put together an gradient of images I received courtesy of Marcus @ SNDF that shows the range of coloration from this import:

I picked up a pair of the high yellows. This pair had the largest female. Here's the female:
And here's the male:

She is 50 mm SVL - by far the largest frog in my small collection. They are currently in QT in a different room and they are separated from each other. They were treated prophylactically by SNDF, and under Dr. Frye's advice we're continuing the Panacur course and apply an SSD salve to the female's nose rub/bruise. Initial BD/RV swabs were negative, and the first set of fecal samples are out for analysis.

Has anyone else acquired a pair?

Which Marineland LEDs are you using?
Hey Bryon,
Yeah, That thing is a piece of crapola! I use exo hoods w Jungle dawn LED. They have served me well! I bought them a while back. Youd have to find my thread, but I guess 2 yrs now. Of course LED strips have come a long way so maybe even something better from the reefer world. If you want sexy, there is a kessil pendent w plant lighting that would be nice for a narrow vert, but its pricy. I think if I have to replace any bulbs I would migrate over to strip LEDs for that beautiful rack in the pic.

Reliability of toe pad size for sexing D. tinctorius?

I will admit I'm still new at this, but I find the use of toe pad size alone to be unreliable when sexing tinctorius. It seems like a lot of froggers go to the pads first when sexing frogs, while I hesitate to draw any conclusions based on toe pads alone. Here's a set of examples:
Here is the male:
Not a significant difference in toe pad shape in my opinion. But if you look at the other indicators the sexes are more obvious. The classic back arch of the female, her larger size, and gravid torso:

Of course, witnessing calling helps:
So in your opinion, how reliable is toe pad size?
