The myth of licking a poison dart frog
#1
Hi, I've had a successful Dart aquarium for at least five years. I'm astounded by their brilliant colors and behaviors. So tell me...  What would really happen with the myth that if someone were to lick the back of a PDF...  I'm interested in personal experiences someone may know of another, or possibly something one may know of from a personal experience...  Please, this is only a project that's inspired by a personal hobby. Thanks.

erm...theres a myth about licking PDFs?

i know of people licking the Bufo alvarius toad due to the hellucinigenic toxin it produces when stressed.

as for PDFs though, if you were to lick a captively bred one, probably nothing would happen. they loose there poison in captivity since they don't produce it, they get it from there food. if you were to lick a wild one, you'd probably die. you'd possibly die from just holding it to lick it.

I'm pretty sure that somewhere I read an account of a guy who licked a yellow terribilis and got a headache/dizzy for several hours. Hey, at least it was captive born and didn't kill him Big Grin
