What is "line Breeding" ?
#41
Great post Rich! This is exactly what I am talking about. I am well-versed in genetics. Yet, because you want to stick to only the random breeding myth, he must try to discredit me.

Don't buy into this kind of garbage. Common sense is common sense, genetics is genetics. You can tell its nonsense when they want to beat you up over a term you didn't apply to frogs (however the COMPARISON is valid) or start screaming "frankenstein" and "designer frogs".

This nonsense is what keeps people from exploring new ideas and learning new things.

I contend that most hobbyists DO NOT need to be "expert scientists" to do these things and do them well. Don't let these "self-proclaimed experts" call you stupid.

SO all of a sudden Brian, you with your small viv and two frogs are an expert? All the rest of us who have been keeping frogs 10 times longer than you have no common sense? Please.
There are good ideas Brian, not yours unfortunately. You want to cross locales and make frankenfrogs. It smacks of inexperience, lack of knowledge, lack or responsibility, and a lack of ethics.
Sure you can create all these monsters, but did you ever stop and ask yourself if you should?
Please Brian, share you're resume with us, where again did you get your degree in genetics? Please share with us....Credibility means a lot to the frog community so please establish some or shut up, or better yet, don't and just go away.
Speaking of terms, here's one you did apply to frogs...BREEDS. Guess what? They don't exist. It's a figment of your delusional imagination. Much like your expertise in anything but flapping your gums and spewing forth crap!!

I am not out here attacking anyone's credibility. I'm not stalking anyone. I am offering principles used by other groups maintaining populations of animals that have been successful. I am telling others that they don't have to pay attention to those that bash them, their ideas are valid. Even if you aren't a professional frog counter in South America, you can make good selections in your breedings. There are many people who breed animals with nothing more than empirical methods. Not only were they successful, they actually started the study of genetics.

I am NOT an expert in dart frogs. I am a beginner. However, I have read much of the available data. I listen to those who have a calm, knowledgeable voice. I have the ability to interpret that data, and have seen quite a bit where some have misinterpreted or purposefully bent the information (like on Pumilo). Why can I do this? Because I am educated in biomathematics. I have been involved in the field for a long time. And genetics is genetics.

There are people out here asking me to show studies, etc. I have done that before, it lead to the harassment of people that didn't need to be harassed. And it did no good. Because the next stupid comment is that insects or poultry or cows have no bearing on frogs. It just gets dumber and doesn't stop the harassment anyway. And did you notice Rusty or Rich posting the studies they have published, had peer reviewed, etc.? Of course not. Even the people on other boards who I know have read my articles published on genetics in other areas would never admit they read them. Thats pretty telling.

I have seen the posts attacking others. It isn't new. This happens all the time, cliques trying to run off people who don't agree with them. And it becomes a huge sidetrack. I have now FOED the people who are acting poorly since they cannot control themselves.

Hmm, odd that a search of all the major scientific data bases yields no results with you as an author ...
