Frog Day 2012 May 12th-13th Chicago
Thank you Chris for organizing this years event and to those who attended. I enjoyed meeting people face to face. I wish I was feeling better to spend more time socializing. I will definite make it out 2013 where ever it may be.
Later and Happy Frogging,

Wow, it was great to meet so many people - vendors and visitors alike! We now have faces to put with names. Smile

I was able to get some good video of the show, including some of the vendors who weren't too busy to talk to the camera. I should be able to get it posted this week.

Is anyone doing a press release to raise awareness about the event, how much was raised for TWI, etc? If not, I'll write it and try to get it out there in the press and blog world. I really believe we can get a lot more people at these events if we can just get more press and awareness.

Cheers and happy traveling to those still working their way home!

I had a great time as well, met some really nice froggers and put many faces to names.

Now all I need to do is convince the hubby to let me go to FrogDay next year.

Beth: I met a REAL wrestler at Frog Day and if hubby doesn't let you go, we will stop by and bring you personally to next year's show. No sense in having a Frog Day without you there! Sorry I didn't get a chance to say goodbye this morning. Still here in Chicago visiting my brother. Bought some great plants at $2 a ziplock bag from Scott M. Always great stuff. Ed

Ladies and gentleman, I had the time of my life yesterday at Frog Day 2012. I'll never ever forget this day. It was my first chance to participate in a big amphibian only show, and it didn't disappoint in the least. It was a pleasure to meet all of you that took the time to say hello and talk to me, I really appreciate it. I'm amazed and thrilled at what a nice community of hobbyists this is. It really makes me feel good deep down inside. Just to be able to be a small part of this. Yes I'm a big softie, and it meant a lot to me that you all welcomed me with open arms. I met too many people to name you all individually, but you know who you are. I reconnected with an old friend who I used to belong to the same cichlid club as me 15+ years ago. The cool thing is we're both froggers now. I met another nice guy who is just getting into frogs and he only lives a few blocks from me in the same town. Priceless stuff!! I'm looking forward to hanging out with my new friends again. My only complaint is that time went by too fast, I didn't get to talk to as many of my comrades as I would have liked. Now it's time to start saving so I can be at Frog Day 2013!!!!!
I want to thank everyone that participated in Frog Day 2012, vendors, attendees, everyone. Thanks for donating items for the auction, thanks for bidding and buying those items!! Thanks to Chris Miller for hosting such an excellent event. Let's bring it back to Chifrogo in a few years and do it up even bigger!!!!
All my best everyone, thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Ed as far as the "Frog Wrestler" goes he is the best but glad he was not wrestling after a great night out on the town with fellow froggers. You are hilarious BTW still laughing at your jokes. : )
Jon this was my first FrogDay as well and my first time in Chicago, next FrogDay you better be ready to party!
Ed if the hubby gives me any slack about FrogDay next year, will trade frogs for your " legal services."

Kristy next FrogDay please pack a smaller bag dont wear "cute shoes" when you fly out and we can coordinate our flights to arrive at the airport around the same time so you don't take the wrong shuttle and end up at the other same named hotel. Lol

Phil you owe me a drink, it was great to meet you in person.
Rich thanks for the tour of your frog room and the awesome black jeans and lamasi who enjoyed the flight so much both males called on landing, plus the TSA guys loved the "tropical frogs" when they hand checked them.
Many thanks Casper for driving with my BYH to make sure they made it safely.

Jon: I was there. Trust me, at least the Frye portion of it was not a pretty sight! Matter of fact, even Phil had an upset stomach from it the next day. Watching Frye dance is kind of like watching a FF struggling in a bad culture. As for the rest of the video, well, let's just say its not suitable for all ages on YouTube. Ed

With the exception of Phil eating my raw German meat (hackepeter) it was all Kristy's fault.

Soooo many jokes to be made right there. And the best part is Phil isn't around to defend himself.

I just got home. I went to visit with my sister who's just outside of Chicago. I was able to see my nephew who was picked up by the Marines this morning. Boot camp! I had a great time meeting everyone. Being able to put a face to the name is huge. Loved the show! A big thanks to Rich for his hospitality and opening up his frog room to so many people!

Cheers everyone and here's to frog day 2013!!

ok.....Wrapping up my Colorado Expedition and catching up with the stuff here...

Chris Miller did a fantastic job out here in Chitown. The event was well run and nicely attended -I think 300 or so different people thru the gate and several thousand dollars raised through the charity auction.

Too many people met to list. Suffice it to say, that many many names and face were put together. Good times indeed. Hundreds and hundreds of frogs and frog deals. Almost full grown Matechos for $50.00 ?!? and that's only one example.

Thanks goes out to Rich for letting us into the Frog Dungeon to see his excellent collection. A lot of beautiful animals.

And here's where I make my jocular retort to Rich and say something about his tiny weinerschnitzel but in all seriousness, that German Hocken-whatever put something on me. Wasn't there a raw egg served on top of it too - to be mixed into it ?

Thanks Glenn, and everyone else for all the offers and help to make the trip happen for me. This hobby has a ton of great people.

To all the people that missed this great event for whatever reason....try hard NOT to miss 2013, and I hope to see you there.

Just finished planting Frog Day plants and distributing isos and FFs. It was a very valuable trip for me; a time for patching things with a couple members and making new friends. I learned that much of what I do is more for me than for the frogs! It is fascinating to visit the various frog rooms of members and see how little some do aesthetically and how much others do. Since I fall into the latter category, I learned I could ease up a bit on myself and the frogs would still be OK.

I took pics on my iPhone because I forgot my camera. They are not the best pics, but click here to see and download them if you like (permission is granted to all to use them freely): http://s248.photobucket.com/albums/gg19 ... 20Chicago/
