Some beginner Questions
#21
soooo a few months on and the viv has just arrived, bought from dartfrog.co.uk built by ENT 40x40x40. just a few troubleshooters:
1. there is a hole for drainage at the bottom of the gulley which water WILL pour through, does this mean i need to put the viv on a drip tray, what kind of tray etc? Should I plug it up?
2. underneath the sloped false bottom leading to the gulley there is a space, do i need to put a heat mat underneath? what should I do with it?

You should refer to your builder / seller of that enclosure or maybe one of the 2 dozen fellow U.K members here can assist, as you have a "Euro" viv - something that we Americans are not too familiar with.

In any case, no heat mats or pads should ever go INSIDE an enclosure. Heat pads and heaters are prone to malfunction, heat up or down for no apparent reason, or otherwise fail to produce good results. I would not recommend any sort or localized heating like a mat, pad or fish tank heater inside or even outside a viv. Room temperature or Ambient heating is best for Dart Frogs.

Glad to see you took the plunge and bought a nice vivarium / enclosure ! It's all downhill from here - no worries ! Big Grin
