Tadpoles need to breathe - unsealed

Over the years I've sort of broken all the rules when it comes to using the different types of water for tadpoles, misting and water dishes although I've never used tap water for tadpoles.

What I have been using for the last few years for tadpoles is taking a one gallon jug of distilled water and putting in a couple of Indian almond leaves and letting it sit for a couple of days before using it. When I first started getting tadpoles I would take spring or distilled water and boil Live Oak Leaves and use the water for the tadpoles. The firt species of tadpoles I raised were Leucomelas but when I got my first Tinc tadpoles I noticed that not only did they grow faster but they also ate everything.

I never recorded the actual length of time it's taken my Tincs to morph so I can't help you there.

For what it's worth - a long time ago someone told me it was a good idea to use tap water for the frog's water dishes because distilled and spring water were missing a lot of natural minerals that could be found in tap water. I guess this okay as long as your tap water doesn't have a lot of chlorine or other bad chemicals.

The sticky's here are particularly good on water, tap water and RO water:

Sometimes you get a few 'tadpoles that don't want to be in a rush to grow up and join the workforce. Seriously.
