Newbie Question about substrate / Clay addition
#1
I'm in the process of setting up my first viv and I got some ABG mix online for the substrate and I read somewhere on the forums here that clay can be added to it to improve on it. This sounds like a good idea, however, I can't for the life of me seem to be able to find what KIND of clay to use. I'm assuming that it's not artist clay or cat litter (although I have read about the Kitty Clay BGs). I was just wondering if someone could give me a little insight on whether or not it's even all that worth it to add and if so what kind of clay to add and how much to add. Thanks in advance for the advice!

It depends on what you want the clay to do. I have started adding turface to my ABG to improve drainage. Others add clays that have calcium components (calcium bentonite I believe) to help supplement feeders. What kind of frogs will you be keeping?

I'm really leaning towards tincs but the decision isn't final yet. I also have been looking at auratus too. I'm currently trying to get the 18x18x18 ready to plant and so far I have the background finished. Microfauna will definitely be included when the time comes though.
