Best Food Processor for making FF media ?
#1
What food processor can anyone recommend that is 'easily available' and @ $200 or less ?

Easy to use. Easy to break down and clean.

and most important....chops/grinds / powders things up to really, really fine dust.

oh....medium to large size is better. I do have a couple of those 'magic bullets' and while they are good and all...the size is on the small size and pretty limiting.

A cheap $10 coffee grinder. Not great as far as volume but it will powder anything. Great for supplements as well.

Yeah the $60.00 Magic bullets are of the coffee grinder variety. Work really well but are so limited in size.

I like making @ 3 lbs of dry media at a time....need a full-on food processor type volume.

Blenders and food processors generally don't powder dry ingredients very well. But might be good enough for mixing media.

Your best bet would to get a grain mill but a good one can be pretty pricey. The ones that use stone to grind do a much better job than those that use metal burrs.

Why the need to have your media so finely ground?

It's been a few years since I bought mine, but Amazon used to do a pretty brisk business in factory refurb'ed full-sized Cuisinart food processors; I think I payed around $189 for mine, which was less than half new price. You may want to check and see if they're still offering something like that...
