You're gonna hafta narrow it down as there are @100 different Dart Frog species to choose from in the U.S currently.

1. Species ?

2. Age? - adults are more than younger animals and then sexed and breeding animals are often 200-300% more than regular adults even.

well I'm not the one who asked the question but would love to hear the answer/ opinions. I'm looking for 3 leucs for my 18x18x24 tank. I'm not really fussy about age whatever is easier to start with as these will be my first frogs. AlsoI hear these do well in groups which is why I picked the number 3.
working my way up to 3 little leucs soon! :3

Leucs can go from anywhere - $20.00 to 50.00 each, on average.

add 50% for adult animals

add another 50% for sexed or proven animals

deduct 10-20% for buying three is possible, as well as good old fashioned haggling.

My best advice is to find which species you are interested in and use the search function to find for sale ads to view. This way, you can see what others are listing those frogs for, if they are selling, and gives you that ballpark figure to go from. It is somewhat important to find "newer" listings as prices may vary from year to year. This system isn't perfect, but should provide some help.

Age (juvies/sub-adults/adults) and if they are sexed (male/female/prob pair/proven) will be factors to consider.

I think the breeder is also important. I am not a huge fan of "unknown" frogs. Occasionally you will see a new user account with their first post being frogs for sale. Stick to people that have good reputations and not to people that are just trying to make a quick buck or two. You might have to pay a little more but paying $45 dollars for a Leuc that is going to live is way less expensive than paying $35 dollars for one that is going to die.

Just my opinion

The answer as to what is "fair" would be whatever a person is willing to spend, without his or her arm being twisted. That goes for what a frog is 'worth' also.
Good advise from Byron and Brian. Research the different species. Then research a bit more in depth the beginner species or locale you end up liking most.
Then research the sellers. Are they breeders...or just a link in the chain? Do they have bad habitual practices? Do they have a stellar rep?
Then after all that you will probably realize that rolling the dice on $20 for a leuc from a bad vendor or being charged $40 for a leuc that should live decades from a breeder that instills peace of mind means that extra $20 during the long life of the frog is nothing.
Also, many times better information (not just a better quality dart) comes from the direct breeder, as opposed to that of a flipper. Flippers tend to cause the most problems in our hobby as opposed to those who actually take the time to breed their own frogs they sell.

After all the fruit fly cultures , vitamins, viv building equipment , fecals, fecals , fecalas, and the rest that comes along with husbandry, the simple answer to the question of what are "fair prices" would be $0 and up.
Darts with parasites are analogous to mixed tanks, there are no known benefits to the frogs with either.
