can you show a pic of the plants?

I use scissors to trim most of my plants. I have small curved hobby scissors that work great.

I have found that with most alocasias that you can prune them heavily and it will not harm them. I have even cut off all leaves on my black velvet and it has regrown, eventually. They seem to be pretty hardy and offshoots can be sometimes transplanted to start new plants. Hope this helps
